Study NT showcases the Territory’s strengths to international student recruitment agents

Study NT successfully hosted a select group of international student recruitment agents for a threeday familiarisation (famil) program designed to showcase the Northern Territorys education, lifestyle, and industry strengths.

This year’s famil continues the longstanding partnership between Study NT and ICEF, established in 2017, which aims to strengthen global education connections and enhance international student recruitment opportunities for the Territory.

Over three days, agents met with ten education providers and two accommodation providers, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the Territory’s supportive and industryaligned education ecosystem.

Participating NT international education and training providers:

  • Alana Kaye College
  • Australian City International College
  • Canterbury Institute of Management (CIM)
  • Charles Darwin University (CDU)
  • Darwin City College
  • Darwin High School
  • Flinders University
  • Haileybury Rendall School
  • International College of Advanced Education (ICAE)
  • St John’s Catholic College

Participating Accommodation Providers:

  • CDU Village Casuarina Campus
  • UniLodge

A program highlight was the lunch hosted by ICAE, where the school showcased its excellence in commercial cookery and hospitality training. Agents were served a meal prepared and presented by ICAE students, offering a realworld demonstration of the schools training capability and industryready approach.

Agents also visited CDU’s Danala Campus, including a stop at the local radio station Territory FM’s studio, which is located on site. Here, they had the opportunity to see working journalists live on air, offering a behind‑the‑scenes look at a real broadcast environment and the vibrant media activity within the campus.

Understanding the lifestyle and sense of place is an important part of choosing a study destination, and the famil included some of the NT’s most iconic local experiences.

Participants enjoyed a relaxed visit to Nightcliff jetty, taking in the coastal views and the easygoing atmosphere that locals love.

The group also spent time at the Darwin Waterfront, sharing meals together in the precinct’s lively dining district. This gave agents a taste of Darwin’s food culture and its welcoming, communityoriented environment, a lifestyle that international students quickly embrace.

A memorable visit to Crocosaurus Cove rounded out the program, where agents enjoyed unique wildlife encounters, including the chance to hold a baby crocodile, a moment that truly captured the adventurous spirit of the Top End.

Participating international student recruitment agents in attendance:

  • Anil Yogi, Expert Education and Visa Services
  • Alejandra Alvarez, Edumove
  • Arantxa Gonzalez, Dingoos
  • Asghar Butt, Asian Education Consultants

These agents represent key markets and play a crucial role in promoting the Northern Territory as a study destination globally.

It was an incredible opportunity to connect directly with excellent educators and learn first-hand about the institutions and programs available in the region”, said Alejandra Alvarez from Edumove.

Anil Yogi, from Expert Education and Visa service said, “I am truly impressed by the commitment of the Northern Territory Government through the Study NT team, universities, colleges and the Student Ambassador Program, who are all working together to encourage and support international students in building their confidence.

“Darwin is a place where international students can feel at home. It offers an inclusive community that welcomes participation, celebrates diversity, and empowers students to get involved and lead’, he added.

Study NT extends its appreciation to all participating providers, partners, and particularly to ICEF, whose collaboration since 2017 has been instrumental in elevating the Northern Territory’s international education profile.
