Study NT Ambassadors Strengthen Community Connections at One of the Territory’s Longest-Running Festivals

Study NT Student Ambassadors delivered a successful and engaging booth activation at the annual Harmony Soirée, celebrating the Northern Territory (NT)’s vibrant multicultural community and strengthening connections between international students and Territorians.

Held at the Darwin Waterfront on Saturday, 30 May 2026, the Harmony Soirée marked 15 years of bringing Territorians together through culture, connection and community. It remains one of the Territory’s longest-running multicultural events, showcasing the diversity that makes the NT a welcoming place to study, live, and work.

The event is organised by the NT Government, Darwin Waterfront Corporation, Darwin Community Arts and the Multicultural Council of the NT.

Study NT Ambassadors led the design and delivery of interactive activities, inviting attendees to explore cultures through images of national flags, traditional clothing and well-known dishes from around the world.

The activation also featured a short social video activity, encouraging participants to share greetings in their native language and highlight their favourite places in the NT, showcasing diverse voices and student experiences.

Study NT Ambassador who coordinated the activation, Iris Wong, said the event was a powerful celebration of the diversity that makes the Northern Territory such a welcoming and vibrant community.

“It was inspiring to see so many people from different cultures and generations come together to share stories, traditions and experiences,” Ms Wong said.

“Our cultures are part of our roots and help shape who we are. By sharing our knowledge and traditions with one another, we build greater understanding, strengthen community connections, and help ensure these stories continue to be passed on to future generations.”

The activation highlights the important role international students play in enriching the Territory community and reflects the NT Government’s ongoing commitment to building inclusive, connected communities.
