Study in Australia's Northern Territory Scholarship program
Study in Australia’s Northern Territory Scholarships are provided by the Northern Territory Government to talented international students to study in Australia’s Northern Territory.
The scholarship program is accessible for all international students wanting to study in the Northern Territory (NT).
Scholarship applications for Charles Darwin University students are now closed (12/02/2026).
You must:
- have applied and obtained an offer of admission to study in the NT
- have a demonstrated record of academic excellence, community engagement and leadership (documents and two letters of support to be included with scholarship application)
- be accepted to study with one of the NT’s education or training providers listed under “Participating providers” (below)
- meet the NT education or training provider's academic and English entry criteria
- be residing interstate or overseas and planning to move to the NT at the time of submitting your application
- not already be living in the NT or studying with an NT education provider
- not hold any other scholarship (except Charles Darwin University Global Merit Scholarship)
- not have received a Study NT International Student Accommodation Grant
- have submitted your completed scholarship application form to Study NT, and
- not be a current Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or a New Zealand citizen
The scholarship amount is for your first semester or year of tuition fees with your education and training provider.
Scholarships (one-off payment) will be issued to your provider after you have arrived in the Northern Territory, and commenced your studies.
The following scholarships are available:
Secondary school: $2,250
English language (ELICOS): $2,250
Vocational education and training (VET/TAFE): $3,750
Higher education (undergraduate): $4,200
Higher education (postgraduate): $5,200

Scholarships will be available until the end of the grant period, or when the total funds have been utilised for the grant purpose.
To be eligible for the Study in Australia's Northern Territory Scholarships, you must be studying with one of the following providers:
English language (ELICOS)
Vocational education and training (VET/TAFE)
- Alana Kaye College
- Alice Springs College of Australia
- Australian City International College
- Charles Darwin University
- Darwin City College
- Fox Education
- International College of Advanced Education
- Latitude College
Higher education
Schools

Applications sent to Study NT via email will not be accepted or responded to.
Study NT will accept and assess your application in consultation with the participating education or training provider that you have received an offer of admission from.
Applicants need to attach the following documents in GrantsNT, before submitting their application (please note, documents sent to Study NT via email may not be considered):
- Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE)
- Travel itinerary
- 2 letters of support addressing the applicant's academic achievements, community engagement and leadership qualities
- Certificates, resumes and other documents can be attached in addition to show the applicant's previous achievements.
If your application is successful, Study NT will notify you.
You must sign a letter of agreement confirming you will continue to meet the scholarship criteria and terms. This is a legally binding agreement.
You need to return the signed agreement to Study NT within 2 weeks of receiving your Scholarship Endorsement Letter.
Your scholarship will be paid directly to your education or training provider, who will reduce your fees for your first semester or year of tuition to the equivalency of your awarded scholarship. The payment of the scholarship will be processed after you have arrived in the Northern Territory.
