Winners announced for the 2025 Study NT International Student Awards!

Congratulations to the winners of the 2025 Study NT International Student Awards who were recognised for their incredible achievements.

The annual presentation recognises the meaningful contributions that international students and alumni bring to the Territory community, this year shining a light on:

Through roles as CDU Student Leader, Student Ambassador, and Vice President of the Student Council, Gilbert is a passionate advocate for student needs, mentoring peers and supporting newcomers to settle into life in the NT. Beyond campus, Gilbert inspires the next generation by promoting STEM education in regional communities and amplifying young voices at the NT Youth Round Table and Youth Parliament. As a First Nations Tutor, Gilbert also supports students in STEM through the Transition to Education Program.

  • International Student Alumni of the Year: Ali Dhirani, Tanzania, CDU

Starting from a humble desk in his living room, Ali leads SAMAF Consultants and Top End Maintenance, a thriving consultancy and social enterprise with 30+ staff across the NT, NSW, and VIC.  Ali has championed inclusion by creating pathways for PALM workers, First Nations communities, international students, migrants, and vulnerable groups to access training and secure employment, supporting innovation and tangible pathways to success for all in the NT.

Volunteering with Banyan House AOD Rehabilitation Centre, Launch Night Series, and Darwin Basketball Association, Mengdie’s passion in fitness also sees her support clients in recovery and mentor youth on health and nutrition. She also founded a sports networking group for Chinese female students in the NT to promote inclusion and strengthen community ties between international students the wider Territory community.

  • International Student Employer of the Year: Kinetic IT

Through tailored programs, paid internships, work experience, and an ICT graduate program, Kinetic IT has provided real pathways to professional success. Beyond skills development, they trust and invest in their international student employees, giving them opportunities to represent the company at industry events and build valuable networks. 

  • Student Ambassador of the Year: Mit Dinh, Vietnam, CDU

Voted by her peers, Mit is an inspiration to international students and women in STEM alike. Her outstanding commitment to inclusion, positivity and support towards the student community fosters a welcoming atmosphere that encourages professional and personal growth on campus and within the community.
