Meet Zau

2024 Study NT Student Ambassador

I still remember the first time coming to Darwin, like every other international student I was nervous and anxious . Without knowing a single soul and loosely based on the knowledge I gathered from the internet, I arrived in Darwin to pursue a Master of Data Science in February 2023. Since then, the last year of my life has been a roller-coaster ride.

Coming from the bustling city of Dhaka, I was taken aback by the calm and quiet nature of the Northern Territory. But the Northern Territory's true charm lies in its inclusive and vibrant community. It's awe-inspiring to witness the unity prevailing amidst this cultural melting pot. Oh, did I mention that NT has the best sunset?

I am dazzled by the number of opportunities for a student to explore different career paths while being supported by numerous workshops and skill development programs. In my case, I joined the Australian Workplace Experience Program run by Charles Darwin University's Career Centre, which turned out to be a pivotal point in my career. The program helped me to secure a brief internship at the Planning and Performance Department of my university and culminated with an offer for a part-time Data Science Student Intern role, fitting with my dreams as a Data Analyst. I never thought I could get a job closely related to my field this early in my career.

The Northern Territory has something for everyone's dreams. I began volunteering with the Bangladeshi Student Association, where I organised various events, including a successful fundraising concert and a networking event. Now serving as the Vice President of the Bangladeshi Student Association, I've been touched by the extraordinary support and warmth of the NT community.

The spirit of celebrating every culture is deeply woven into the community. The Northern Territory has provided a conducive environment for academic and professional growth and offered a sense of belonging and active community involvement, making this chapter of my life truly memorable.
