Study NT International Student Awards
Applications for 2023 are now closed
The annual Study NT International Student Awards recognise and showcase impressive international students, alumni and local businesses that employ and mentor international students.
Study NT promotes international education and training in the Northern Territory (NT). The NT Government works with education and training providers, businesses and the local community to welcome and support international students while they study in the NT.
In 2023, there are 4 categories available for nomination:
- Study NT International Student of the Year
Recognises an international student who provides exceptional peer support, actively engages with the NT community, demonstrates outstanding academic achievements, and acts as a role model for other international students in the NT. - Study NT International Student Volunteer of the Year
Recognises an international student’s involvement and contribution to the NT community, highlighting their personal growth and outcomes. - Study NT International Alumni of the Year
Recognises the career and personal achievements of a former international student who has graduated from an international education provider in the NT. Study NT International Student Employer of the Year
Nominated by a current international student or graduate, this award recognises an employer in the NT that employs international students or graduates at a casual, part-time or full-time capacity.
Nominations are now closed for 2023.
16 November 2023 - awards ceremony
These prestigious awards celebrate outstanding NT international students, alumni and businesses.
Award finalists will receive an official certificate. Winners will receive an engraved trophy at the 2023 Study NT International Student Awards ceremony.
The International Student of the Year winner will receive $2,000 in prize money.
The International Student Volunteer of the Year and Alumni of the Year winners will each receive $1,000 in prize money.
Finalists and winners will be promoted locally, nationally and internationally through NT Government and media channels.
The International Student of the Year and International Student Volunteer of the Year awards are open to international students who are currently:
- studying with a provider of Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS) in the NT (including NT schools; vocational education and training; English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students (ELICOS); higher education; or non-award courses) or undertaking the Navitas Professional Program
- holding a valid student visa (subclass 500) at the time of nomination, and
- residing in the NT.
The International Alumni of the Year is open to former international students who have completed their studies at an NT education provider and now reside in the NT.
International students and alumni can self-nominate. The public can nominate eligible individuals for the International Student of the Year, International Student Volunteer of the Year and International Alumni of the Year.
Nominations for the International Student Employer of the Year Award must be submitted by a current international student or graduate.
Applications are now closed until 2024.
A selection panel comprising community, government and international education industry representatives will assess nominations to determine finalists and winners.
Nominations will be assessed by the awards panel and Study NT will undertake referee checks. Finalists will be announced and promoted in October 2023. The panel’s decision is final.
