Meet Yao
I grew up in a beautiful city, Huzhou, which is very different from Darwin. The decision to live in the Northern Territory to further my studies was driven by my curiosity of the unique culture and landscape in the Northern Territory.
I had lived in Alice Springs for one and a half years as a working holiday maker. I worked many jobs in Australia, not just to make a living but to immerse myself in the local culture and community. I discovered so many amazing stories in Central Australia that left a deep impression on me. The experience living in the Northern Territory led me to study a Master of Social Work at Charles Darwin University.
I am able to connect even more with the community as an international student in the Northern Territory. The rich culture, and the warm and inclusive community have made me feel right at home.
What I love the most about living in the NT is the friendly community and the chance to contribute to and create positive changes. The stunning landscape and natural beauty of the NT is incredible. The journey not only expanded my academic horizons but also made me a more understanding and culturally aware person. The Northern Territory is a perfect place for international students who want to make a difference.
