Meet Rachel
It is my first time being away from my home, but the Northern Territory didn’t fail to welcome me warmly. When I arrived here I noticed that the plants, weather, and fruits are just so similar to my home, but in a different continent. I have met the locals, other nationalities, and even Filipinos too, who are friendly and approachable.
My colleagues are supportive when it comes to employment, and help guide me through my journey. Since studying in the NT I have immersed myself in the community, volunteering with the Australian Kookaburra Kids. It has helped give me an understanding of the cultural diversity here in the NT.
Among everything, what I really love about my journey here in the NT is my self-exploration. I understand more about myself and have learned how to love and care for myself. The laid-back lifestyle that the NT offers, has allowed me to slow down and enjoy every moment of my journey.
It gives me a haven to relax from the hustle and bustle of life and appreciate new beginnings. I have taken up hobbies that I thought I couldn’t learn and never in my life have I imagined joining programs like the Study NT Student Ambassador Program, yet here I am. I am proving to myself again that anything is possible, as long as I believe in myself.
This new journey has given me self-confidence and empowerment, and the autonomy to stretch my capabilities and discovers new heights. I am grateful to be studying in Australia’s Northern Territory.
