Meet Byung

byunghyuk

I'm happy to introduce myself. My name is Byunghyuk but please just call me as Byung although this may be still a bit difficult to pronounce for Australian. It’s because I’ve not find suitable English calling name yet. And my nationality is Korean and I’m from Seoul where is a capital city of Korea. I was born and grown up in Seoul and graduated from elementary school, middle school, high school and university all in this metropolitan city. Still I’ve lived in Seoul with my wife and worked for several companies such as IBM, Samsung and Deloitte Consulting in Seoul.

As for my education history, I graduated from Yonsei university in February 2001 and majored industrial and systems engineering with Bachelor of Science degree. On graduating from the university, I joined IBM Korea as a new entry of CRM (customer relationship management) consultant in 2001 and trained in a boot camp for a half year. At those times, economic growth rate was high in Korea so that business consulting work was very exciting while workload was high since client’s consulting demand was also high in the market. Afterwards I worked for other companies such as Samsung SDS, Deloitte Anjin and Deloitte Consulting which come to over 15 years in my total work experience.

Lastly I worked for Deloitte Consulting Korea in 2016 as a senior manager in charge of QRM which stands for quality and risk management concerning in practice protection and engagements quality management which include legal affairs such as lawsuits and labor claims. While I worked on QRM, I felt fun and interest from legal work in collaborating with an attorney and started to study laws from distant learning facility in Korea.

Then I decided to study laws and become a lawyer and chose Charles Darwin University (CDU) and Darwin city for their location close to Asia and StudyNT scholarship for international students from Korea. Now I’m expecting to exchange Australian and Asian culture while having broad network with other students from other Asian countries. I think Darwin city and CDU is good place to get along with Australian and other Asian at the same time and I believe this environment and opportunities will lead to good understanding and relationship development between Australia and Asian countries. This is the reason why I chose CDU, Darwin to study abroad.
