Asman - Finalists for 2023 International Student of the Year

Asman Tarofder Asharza - Bangladesh

Asman is from Bangladesh and studies a Master of Data Science at Charles Darwin University (CDU). [LB1] 

 

As President of the CDU Bangladeshi Student Association, Asman organises “Meet and Greet” barbeque sessions for new students, cultural festivals and a fundraising concert.

 

Asman is passionate about advocating for international student wellbeing and cultural exchange, including supporting the Ramadan Iftar at Casuarina Mosque.

Hola! I am Frank, from Arequipa, Peru. I am currently studying an Advanced Diploma of Leadership and Management at IH Darwin. 

Daisy - Winner of 2023 International Student Award

Daisy Twayana - Nepal

Charles Darwin University (CDU)

Daisy is the founder and president of the Social Work Inclusive Student Society at Charles Darwin University, advocating for and enhancing student experience. Daisy is also a member of CDU Women’s Collective for Innovation and Change. 

Daisy also led a podcast project “Being International”, providing a platform for international students to share their experiences with cultural shock, mental health, employment and the unique challenges of social work. 

Daisy spends her spare time crocheting with a senior women’s group “Knit and Natter”, donating the products to not-for-profit organisation Wrap with Love that distribute them to more than 75 countries. She also helped organise events during the Dementia Action Week, volunteering at Connected Women Darwin by the Red Cross and Happy Families Community Dinner. 

Daisy also received the 2023 Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) award for Social Work Student of the Year.
