Meet Timathi Willathgamuwa
I graduated from high school in 2023 and was privileged to be named “Top Performer” under the Science stream in my college. Due to my strong passion for biology and health, I decided to pursue my higher education in biomedical science in Australia.
When it came to deciding where I would like to study in Australia, Darwin was always my top choice. Darwin is the closest Australian city to Asia, and therefore has similar tropical weather as Sri Lanka, without the freezing winters of other Australian states. It is also rich in wildlife and nature, giving the city a “greener look” compared to the other states. I'm a nature enthusiast, so this definitely helped Darwin stand out as my preferred location.
My field of study involves undertaking research and practical work-related studies, and I believe that Darwin provides the opportunities and resources required to assist students in their work. I feel privileged to be awarded the Study in Australia’s Northern Territory Scholarship, which I strongly believe will help me devote more time and energy towards my research activities and academic progress.
