Finalists announced for 2024 Study NT International Student Awards

The Study NT International Student Awards recognise international students' and alumni's impressive accomplishments and contributions to the Northern Territory, and showcase the local businesses that employ and support international students. 

This year, over 70 nominations were received from students and alumni from Alana Kaye College, Australian City International College, Canterbury Institute of Management, Charles Darwin University, Darwin City College, Haileybury Rendall School, International House Business College, and St John’s Catholic College. 

International students and alumni also nominated their employers who employed, mentored, and supported them. Nominated employers were from a range of industries including information technology, community and disability support services, childcare, hospitality, engineering, accounting, and demolition, recycling and remediation.

The 2024 Study NT International Student Award finalists are:

Study NT International Student of the Year:

  • Mr Cong Do Le from Vietnam, studying at Charles Darwin University (CDU)
  • Mr Deepak Chhetry from Nepal, studying at CDU
  • Mr Hriday Nayyar from India, studying at CDU
  • Miss Nithya Romeshika Yamasinghe from Sri Lanka, studying at CDU
  • Miss Ruobin Zhang from China, studying at CDU

Study NT International Alumni of the Year:

  • Miss Diana Sofia Morales Clavijo from Colombia, graduated from CDU
  • Miss Erika Mae Lu from Philippines, Darwin High School and CDU
  • Miss Eva Ignatious from India, graduated from CDU
  • Mr Hari Sharma from Nepal, graduated from International House Business College

Study NT International Student Volunteer of the Year:

  • Miss Billy Nafoyo Chepkemoi from Kenya, studying at CDU
  • Mr Birendra Kunwar from Nepal, studying at CDU
  • Mr Maged Mohamed Esmat Mohamed from Egypt, studying at CDU
  • Miss Thi Thu Tran from Vietnam, graduated from CDU and currently studying with Australian College of Applied Professionals

Study NT International Student Employer of the Year:

  • Better n Beyond
  • JMJ Disability Services
  • NEC
  • NTEX

The winner of the Study NT International Student of the Year will take home a $2,000 cash prize, and the Study NT International Alumni of the Year and International Student Volunteer of the Year will each receive $1,000.

All category winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at Parliament House on Thursday, 14 November.
