Monsoon Cinema - Whale Rider

Monsoon Cinema is a free, regular film night held on the first Thursday evening of each month at Nightcliff Library. 

It's a great way to discover new films, as films that are screened are generally of an artistic, cultural or social significance and have been successful at one or more respected film festivals such as MIFF, Venice, Toronto or Sundance.

Whale Rider (2002): Paikea, a young Maori girl, struggles to fulfil her destiny and prove to her grandfather that she is in fact the next leader of her tribe. Filled with breathtaking scenery and emotional depth, it’s an inspiring tale of resilience and connection.
