Meet Ruobin

In September 2022, I made one of the most important decisions of my life: I decided to live in Australia and moved from Sydney to Darwin. Looking back now, this could not have been a better decision.

I found a sense of belonging in Darwin that made me feel deeply fulfilled. While studying a Master of Information Technology at Charles Darwin University, I felt greatly supported from staff, especially the Career Centre. They provided us with well-curated programs to help us develop our employability skills. I joined the Value Program for Volunteering, and out of everything in Darwin, volunteering helped me the most when I moved here alone. When serving the community, you can always feel fulfilled and welcomed.

I also joined Kindness-Shake and Charles Darwin University’s Women’s Collective for Innovation and Change (WCIC). Where I have had the opportunity to meet like-minded friends with whom I could make a positive impact and spread kindness together. Growing with these beautiful souls, I was fortunate enough to win the Study NT International Student Volunteer of the Year 2023.

Darwin is a place where your efforts will be recognised and appreciated. It’s a good way to get involved and to make a small impact to the community, it will reward you with abundant opportunities when you least expect it.

Darwin’s community is small yet supportive, inclusive and diverse. I am able to see the world through talking to people from different backgrounds. Let’s enjoy the amazing life in Darwin together, so please feel free to say hello if you see me around town.
