Introducing myself, my name is Shuman Khatri. I am originally from a land of sweeping plains, glorious mountain ranges, green tangles of the forest, and city of temples, a country called Nepal. I came to Sydney, Australia in May 2022 and moved to Darwin in January 2023 to study Commercial Cookery and Hospitality Management with Bayside International College.

Located in Darwin City, Bayside International College was uniquely established to meet the academic requirements of every student with a mesmerising view of the sea side, which is also a destination for many tourists. I have no doubt I will have two different kinds of feelings - as a student and also as a tourist, while pursuing my further study in BIC Darwin and here I am on the journey with my wish list.

Experiencing, embracing and exploring has always been my favourite things to do. Being a nature lover, an opacarophile (a person who loves sunsets) and thalassophile (drawn to the sea), Darwin always attracted me. I always believe that until and unless our soul is free with peace, we won’t be able to work smoothly. Previously living a very rushed life in a busy city, I had to go through lots of every day challenges which was hard to deal with. Fortunately, my friends drove me here to Darwin. A beautiful city with lots of direct opportunity has always made me feel part of a community.

I, alongside the NT, am looking forward to welcoming more and more international students in coming days, and to share our every moment with you.
