Meet Lakshi Jayawila

Lakshi Jayawila

I have a strong background in community engagement, leadership, and multicultural support. I currently work as a Support Officer with the Australian Red Cross, where my role primarily involves supporting the Connected Women Program and working closely with migrant communities across the Northern Territory.

In 2025, I had the opportunity to serve as the Acting Project Officer for the Connected Women “Joy of Many Colours – Katherine Event 2025”, which was successfully delivered. I am also involved in the Health In My Language Program as a Bilingual Health Educator, delivering health education sessions to migrant women in both Sinhala and English.

Before becoming a part time staff member, I volunteered in Emergency Services and completed training in Psychological First Aid, Incident Management, Train the Trainer, and Evacuation Centre Management. I strongly believe that volunteering is essential to a thriving society. With over 12 years of professional experience, including work in diplomatic missions, I am passionate about helping students feel welcomed, informed, and connected in the Northern Territory.

Outside of my professional work, I enjoy dressing up for events and embracing occasions that bring people together.
