Meet Kinley Wangmo

Coming from a small country where opportunities in technology are limited, particularly for women, I grew up believing that if I wanted more, I would need to be brave enough to leave home, while carrying my roots with me.
Moving to the Northern Territory (NT) at the age of 18 was one of the hardest, yet most defining, decisions of my life. I arrived alone, knowing no one, and often felt like the only Bhutanese person in the room. Those early experiences were challenging, but they shaped who I am today. Through volunteering, community work, and stepping into leadership roles, Darwin slowly became home.
Alongside my studies, I work in the community services sector, where empathy and connection underpin everything I do. I am deeply passionate about using technology and storytelling to uplift communities, particularly young people and women from underrepresented backgrounds. Being a Study NT Student Ambassador is a meaningful opportunity to represent both the NT and Bhutan with pride, honesty, and purpose.
