Having relocated to Darwin from Melbourne in July last year, I’m currently studying Master of Secondary Teaching at Charles Darwin University.

Before coming to Darwin, I completed a Master's of Education at Monash University in Melbourne and Bachelor of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages back in China. Based on my academic experience in education, I have been engaging in teaching and tutoring work and voluntary experiences. I have been tutoring Chinese language regarding grammar, listening and speaking since 2014 when I was studying in China. Currently, I teach Mandarin online to students from Department of Defence Canberra, aiming to equip them with strong communication capabilities of Chinese language. I volunteer at STEPS in Darwin as a tutor to assist teachers and students to address some problems in class. I also volunteer in Kindness Shake to negotiate with current and potential volunteers, as well to as assist with organising some events.

For me, Darwin is an amazing place to start your new life. Here, you can find multiethnic communities across the whole Darwin region, enjoying their unique cultural festivals (I’m a foodie so it’s a paradise for me to explore these ambrosias from various communities!). Moreover, as Darwin is a smaller capital city, it’s easier to build social networks through attending a range of events. We can offer and learn a large amount of knowledge and skills mutually that contribute to our personal development.
