Meet Jimena
Two years ago I took the risk to discover and explore this part of Australia after living in Melbourne for a year and as well as in New Zealand. I found here a magical, resilient and vibrant community where we, as international students, are truly welcome. I feel the need to share the many opportunities I have had and guide others to find their best way. I have made great friends and extraordinary networking not only with locals but also with local organisations. They are welcoming, supportive, open-minded and kind, making my life much more comfortable. They make me feel I am part of the NT, not just a foreigner.
The reasons that motivated me to live and study in Australia´s Northern Territory were intrinsically related to my desire to explore and exchange experiences with different cultures in this region as well as the real immersion in local culture and language. Additionally, for the high degree of interaction between private education providers, Charles Darwin University and the local community.
Similar to the many passionate, cheerful and ambitious international students in the Territory, I have been assuming all my expenses through my savings from Colombia and hard work in different casual jobs in Darwin. These experiences have made me compassionate, resilient and reliable. Social and community service is one of my deepest passions that I have been developing here. I love the feeling of serving others and sharing all the wonderful things life gives me.
