Study NT Careers and Jobs Expo 2024

Over 200 international students attended the Study NT Career and Jobs Expo last week to meet with approximately 20 local Territory employers from various industries such as hospitality, accounting, engineering, information technology, medicine, public service and the community sector.

Students also had the opportunity to brush up on their resume writing and interview skills or optimise their LinkedIn profile at one of the free professional development sessions.

Both students and employers shared positive feedback on the event:

International student attendee, Sandhya Sigdel, shared, "Engaging with employers at the Study NT Career and Jobs Expo helped me gain insight into the potential pathways my studies could lead to. The Expo also shed light on additional requirements necessary for certain industries, such as obtaining a working with children card and NDIS clearance for the disability sector.

Fiona Kirk, Manager People and Culture, Somerville Community Services said “This is our first time at the Study NT Career and Jobs Expo, and we had heard that a lot of international students were coming to this event. We are keen to see if we can increase our student numbers within the organisation by attending.”

We already recruit a number of international students and they’re a valued part of the Somerville family. One of our previous student employees (who was a disability support worker) graduated and has now secured a role in our finance team, using their accounting studies. We are proud to say we provide all our employees with training and support on commencement and throughout their employment.”
