Meet Dr. Sana-e-Zehra Haidry

I was awarded the Study in Australia’s Northern Territory Scholarship in 2023-24. This opportunity not only supported my academic journey but also strengthened my mission to contribute to the culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities in the Northern Territory (NT).
With a background in psychology, mental health, clinical linguistics and cognitive science, I have a strong passion for serving differently-abled children and addressing ageing population issues. Pakistan, with a population of over 180 million, faces a critical shortage of qualified speech therapists. This challenge inspired me to pursue advanced studies in Australia, where similar gaps in CALD communities exist. The comprehensive curriculum at CDU, focusing on speech disorders across the lifespan, aligns perfectly with my career goals and community-oriented research as a Senior Atlantic Research Fellow.
Living in Darwin, a multicultural and resilient city—has enriched my experience with its vibrant social fabric and strong community spirit. Darwin’s accessibility and tropical charm make it a uniquely appealing study destination, providing an ideal environment for community-based research and clinical interventions.
As a Study NT Student Ambassador, I am excited to promote the NT as a premier study destination. I aim to leverage my leadership, public speaking, and networking skills to represent the NT’s diverse opportunities while contributing to the local community. By sharing my journey and experiences, I hope to inspire others to explore the Northern Territory as a pathway to personal and professional growth.
I look forward to making a lasting impact in the field of speech therapy and celebrating the unique experiences that studying in the NT offers.
