Meet Quang Dang Hoang
Ever since I was little, I've known I wanted to be a teacher! After high school, though, my parents (who are entrepreneurs) encouraged me to follow a different path. They wanted me to go into business, so I listened and got a Bachelor's degree in Business from Swinburne University of Technology (Vietnam campus).
Even while studying business, my passion for teaching kept shining through. I tutored English part-time to high school and foundation-year students. Helping 19 out of 21 students reach their English score goals made me feel amazing! Since the pandemic started, I've also been an online tutor for Lang master, a professional English centre. The positive feedback from my students just fuelled my desire to become a teacher even more.
One big reason I picked Charles Darwin University (CDU) is because of Darwin and the Northern Territory itself. It's so different from Vietnam! Lots of my friends are studying in Australia, but they mostly stick with other Vietnamese students. For me, that's not ideal. Australia is all about different cultures, and I want to experience that fully.
So, I looked for a city with fewer Vietnamese people. It's super multicultural, with students from everywhere.
I'm so grateful for the chance to live and learn in Darwin. I can't wait to see what amazing experiences and memories I create with the people here!
