Meet Ella Syvret

Originally from Jersey, a small island in the English Channel, I relocated to Australia six years ago.

At the University of Melbourne, I completed my undergraduate studies in Geography with a focus on development and inequality. Similar to my upcoming social work studies, I relished the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to real-world issues. I'm eager to gain practical skills that will empower me to create positive and tangible change.

Following my undergraduate degree, I embarked on an enriching 18-month adventure across Australia. This experience wasn't just about exploration; it also provided valuable professional experience. The privilege of living and working on an Arnhem Land pearl farm, coupled with my time doing youth work in Broome, sparked my passion for pursuing a Master's degree in the Northern Territory.

As a passionate traveller with a deep curiosity for diverse cultures, I'm drawn to Darwin's multicultural tapestry. I believe this environment will foster my development as a well-rounded social worker. Beyond academics, I'm eager to continue exploring the wonders of Australia's Northern Territory. An avid hiker and camper, I hope to conquer the Gibb River Road someday. Additionally, picking up new skills like fishing would be a fantastic bonus!

This journey in Darwin feels like the perfect next step.

With an open mind and a dedication to learning, I'm ready to embrace the opportunities that lie ahead and contribute positively to this vibrant community.
