Meet Sandhya

2024 Study NT Student Ambassador

Since March 2022, I have been pursuing my major in Bachelor of Humanitarian Aid and Development. During this time, I have had the opportunity to explore and connect with the Northern Territory’s unique culture and the humbleness of the community here.

Leaving the place where you have spent most of your life creating memories and connections is not an easy thing to do. I left home with a hope of achieving my goals and pursuing my academic career in Australia. I had mixed feelings of sadness but also hope for better opportunities. This new opportunity came with new challenges as well.

When I first moved to Darwin, I remember the moment I stepped outside of the airport and felt the warm humid air that shocked me. However, after getting to explore the outback and the city life here, I learned to cherish this place’s diversity and inclusiveness. What I love about the Northern Territory is that it has offered me so many opportunities by providing a warm and welcoming community where people from across the world greet each other and exchange values and beliefs. Nobody will judge you, which is what I like the most.

I am beyond grateful to be part of the Study NT Student Ambassador program and I am committed to showing the NT’s vibrant and diverse academic landscape and lifestyle to international students. I am very eager to share my journey and insights with prospective students, to make the NT a friendly place for students, and to highlight the advantages of my studies here.
