Meet Sabrina Doha
Initially, I came to study here because of the scholarships that I got and because of the tropical weather that is very similar to my own country, Bangladesh. However, as I started my journey as a student at Charles Darwin University (CDU), I met people from different parts of the world who are genuinely very warm, welcoming and kind. You cannot help but fall in love with Darwin because of its people and their culture.
After coming here, I found a new purpose to what I actually want to achieve and want to do with my life. The CDU Careers Centre was my initial place of connection, where I participated in the awesome programs and did my 50 hours work placement as part of the Student Engagement Team, which was one of the best times of my life. In the Northern Territory, feeling connected to people around here comes naturally no matter where you are.
I have volunteered for the community, which has made me feel so content to be able to give back after everything that I have learned after coming here.
I truly believe the Northern Territory is a place where you will find yourself again and be amazed by the capacity for growth that you actually have. Today I find myself more comfortable in my own skin, knowing that I belong here with the people around me. I am more confident and more compassionate as a person than I ever thought was possible!
