Meet Jayan
I graduated in December 2018 as a civil engineer from Charles Darwin University (CDU). In Nepal I had always dreamed of being an engineer and when I had completed my year 12 it was suggested I study at CDU to achieve the dream I had. Now, after having completed my bachelor's degree, my experience of studying and living in Darwin was absolutely awesome. Firstly, the education in Darwin is top-tier. Most of my friends have already got jobs here and I am applying for civil engineering jobs in the Territory. I worked part-time during my studies, first at Subway, a fast food restaurant, and then at the Darwin Airport in the stores. I’m continuing to work at the airport while I find a job in my professional field.
In addition, the Northern Territory is absolutely stunning. Litchfield , Kakadu, Uluru, Nitmiluk Gorge and Berry Springs are just a few places that must be visited if you are in Darwin or planning to come here. I have also enjoyed the diverse cultural community of Darwin. I have enjoyed the Glenti Festival, Barrio Fiesta - the Filipino cultural festival, Chinese New Year and Christmas. I am an active member of Darwin Hearts Football Club which competes in the Football Federation of the NT All Age Men's soccer league. Darwin is a perfect example of unity in diversity. I am thoroughly enjoying living in Darwin and I am planning to stay further more in this outback Australia.
