Meet Heather

Originally from China, the Northern Territory attracted my attention through its unique scenery and multicultural welcoming community. Previously declining a scholarship offer from another university I had my heart set on Charles Darwin University (CDU). I sent in my application and merely a few days later I received the COE. I was so excited to start my new journey in the Northern Territory.

However, 2020 had other plans which put a halt to my journey. I ended up being stuck in China due to the Coronavirus pandemic. I was required to commence my first semester online from China but with CDU’s help and effort I overcame such a stressful period. I am so grateful to the staff at CDU and my lecturers for being very accommodating to my circumstances and supporting me through this odd time. In the blink of an eye, I was on board the first flight for international students to Australia in November 2020.

The wonderful experience I have had in the Northern Territory presented me a beautiful vision for my future. I enjoy the opportunity to train for a marathon during the enchanting sunsets of Fannie Bay; beach afternoons; quiet streets; evergreen landscapes; diverse cultures. All the images of these experiences have become layered, and I am sure they will remain with me as forever-engraved memories.
I have been looking for a place just like the Northern Territory, a region with enormous development potential and opportunities. It is this place that gives me the hope and confidence to succeed.
