Meet Michael
The StudyNT Student Ambassador Program is a great program for international students here in the Northern Territory and it is my privilege and honour to be part of it for the second time. As an ambassador in 2019, I was able to represent the Northern Territory in the Council of International Students Australia (CISA) Conference in Perth, the NT October Business Month in Alice Springs, the Arafura Games, Harmony Soiree, ICEF-ANZA and so many other events and functions.
It opened a door for me to volunteer with CISA as an executive assistant for the National Office of VET / ELICOS which provided me with the opportunity to be the voice for all international students in this sector. The recent CISA Conference awarded me as the Best Volunteer of the Year.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, I joined as a volunteer with organisations such as Kindness Shake and BayanihaNT Response Team who provide free packed meals and food hampers to international students in need of help. It was an experience that proved the resiliency of Territorians during these challenging times.
As a returning ambassador, I would like to share my experiences with the new ambassadors and international students alike, while guiding them through a tough year. It is such an honour and pleasure to call the Northern Territory my home in Australia, as a place that values international students with boundless possible opportunities.
