Meet Muhammad Usma

Muhammad Usama

His journey has been focused on applying technical skills to solve problems, especially in environments where resources and data are limited.

He completed his Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering from UET Lahore, where he developed a strong interest in signal processing and machine learning. For his final year project, he worked on a speaker verification system for the Urdu language. Since there was no existing dataset available, he collected data from 500 individuals himself. This experience helped him understand data collection, ethical considerations, feature extraction, and model evaluation. It also sparked his interest in working on problems that are often overlooked in developing regions.

Professionally, Usama has worked as an AI/ML Software Engineer, where he built and deployed intelligent systems in different domains like hiring, real estate, and sports analytics. He has experience working with cloud platforms like AWS and Google Cloud, and has developed systems such as candidate recommendation engines, multimodal AI solutions, and video-based event detection models. He has also worked on optimizing AI models for deployment on devices with limited resources.

He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Information and Communication Technology in Australia. His goal is to continue growing in AI research and work on building intelligent systems that can create real impact, especially in areas like energy, infrastructure, and data-driven decision making in developing countries.
