Meet Mukund Rajesh

Mukund Rajesh

Hey!

I am Mukund Rajesh and I hail from Kerala, India. I am currently enrolled in the Master of Social Work (Qualifying) program at Charles Darwin University in Australia’s Northern Territory.

Before relocating to the NT, I built my professional background in law and community-focused initiatives. I completed an integrated Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws degree, graduating with a First Class qualification.

Alongside my academic work, I have always been involved in community initiatives. I co-founded the Asian MUN Circuit, a non-profit platform that provides young people with access to free skill-development programs and international engagement opportunities. I was also selected as a Millennium Campus Network Fellow and later served on the Admissions Committee of the program.

After working in the legal domain within the banking sector, I established a small legal practice focused on rights-based advocacy. Through this work I interacted with individuals and families facing legal and social challenges, particularly in counselling and pre-litigation dispute resolution. These experiences motivated me to pursue formal training in social work so that I could combine legal advocacy with community-based support.

My decision to study in the Northern Territory is based on my previous exposure and awareness of the social, cultural and economic factors that make the region unique. When I visited the Territory in 2016, including Kakadu National Park, I noticed the Territory's respect for Traditional Owners and the influence of cultural heritage in modern-day life. The Territory’s multicultural community and its focus on regional service delivery make it a unique environment to study social work.

Through my studies at Charles Darwin University, I hope to contribute to community wellbeing and social equity while learning from the diverse communities that make the Northern Territory such a special place.
