Volunteer for the Arafura Games now

The Arafura Games began as the Arafura Sports Festival in 1991 with 1500 athletes competing in seven sports. From 1998 it was known as the Arafura Games and was held every two years.

In 2019 the Arafura Games are returning to Darwin and will be held over eight days, from 26 April to 4 May. The games will unite over 1500 local, national and international athletes across 16 sports with a range of sporting competition tiers from amateur through to sub-elite.

The 2019 Arafura Games will also showcase the Northern Territory’s unique arts, culture, history and trade and investment opportunities. It is an event through which friendship, goodwill and understanding between competing nations and the Northern Territory is fostered.

Volunteers are vital and are being sought to help ensure the 2019 Arafura Games are the most successful games yet.
