The Arafura Games have begun

The Arafura Games 2019 officially got underway on Friday 26 February. The opening ceremony was a huge success with thousands of people attending. The ceremony featured a stunning Larrakia welcome, over 80 cultural dancers as well as esteemed Northern Territory artists, NT Dance Company, Shellie Morris, Leah Flanagan, Liam Stansfield and Danzal Baker.

More than 1900 athletes from more than 40 countries will be participating in 17 sports, such as weightlifting, Muay Thai, swimming, basketball, and beach volleyball plus lots more.

All events are free to attend so head on down and support your country.
