Meet Manfred

Tere kõigile and hello - my name is Manfred and I’m originally from Estonia. I have been in Australia for four years now and for half of that I’ve been an international student based in Darwin.

My first experience with Darwin was in 2014 when I visited my sister here for a week in March. Later in September I moved here for five months from Western Australia. After self-finding in 2016 in Asia and Europe I decided to study in Australia and because I loved the life in Darwin I chose to come here. I chose to study here because I enjoyed the surroundings here and fell in love with the city of Darwin and the laidback lifestyle it has to offer. After seeing how there is an immense amount of opportunities in the Northern Territory, I figured I must learn new things not only about my chosen subject, but also culturally.

Northern Territory has offered me the opportunity to meet and network with other students from all over the world, allowing me the chance to discover diverse cultures in a positive and supported environment.

Outside the class-room I work in a cafe as a supervisor where I can apply my studies in the work environment. I love Darwin because it reminds of my countries capital, Tallinn, but with less people. Everything is in eyesight and there is always something to do around here. There are many markets, after school programs and great sporting opportunities.
